Category: Fresh from the oven
It’s teacher appreciation week at baconboys school. The school sent out a notice asking for fresh baked goodies. I read it to mean fresh baked from the Publix Bakery. I had every intention of stopping by to pick something up…until Nana intervened. She saw something on the Today show about cupcakes (What’s New, Cupcake?). So of course I had to try something after seeing the show. My predicament my oven is broken *sob* and my toaster oven likes to cook everything cajun style i.e. burn it. So I purchased a mini Cupcake maker (Big Lots $30). Yes folks if you don’t want to wait a full 12-15 minutes for full sized cupcakes to cook in a regular sized oven then try the Babycakes Cupcake Maker. It bakes 8 mini cupcakes in 5-8 minutes. It’s like a George Foreman grill for cupcakes.

So I didn’t have the exact directions for the Apple shaped cupcakes so I had to wing it. Basically it’s a cupcake with a doughnut on top (use icing to cement doughnut to the top of the cupcake). I used mini doughnuts bc I was making mini cupcakes. I also made the mistake of using powered doughnuts. Don’t used powered the icing will slide right off your cupcakes. It’s very frustrating. I then microwaved a can of frosting, tinted it red and dipped the whole cupcake doughnut setup in the icing. You get a smooth covering of icing this way. I then dipped it into red sugar.
The stem of the apple is a pretzel stick and the leaves are green fruit roll-ups. Hint- refrigerate the fruit roll-up for easier cutting, it also makes it easier to peel off the plastic backing. Then stick the leaf to the pretzel and shove it into the cupcake.
Voila!

The only problems I had with the Babycake Cupcake Maker was the horrible burning plastic smell during first use (the instructions do warn of this). Also the consistency of the cupcakes are a bit weird. Kinda spongy instead of cakey. But they tasted fine so I guess it doesn’t matter. Also the size isn’t truly mini. They’re in between mini and large. I’m guessing it’s because you can use the Cupcake maker as a tart maker. I’m assuming tarts are bigger. Anyhoo all the teachers loved them. They said they almost didn’t want to eat them because they were so cute

Baby fever! I’ve been away and haven’t be able to post because of all the babies!! I love it (and so does Mr. Bacon). As long as I have a steady stream of babies to shoot I’m less likely to want another of my own
Baby girl “L” here was a dream. She slept just about the whole time and didn’t care how we posed or folded her. I hope new mommy and daddy enjoy this sneak peak.

I heart back rolls *swoon*

I had the ultimate pleasure of shooting baby girl twins! I love babies, especially newborns. They smell so sweet make the cutest little grunts and don’t object too much to being dressed up. These little cuties were only 2 weeks old and aahhhhhdorable! They’re already on the same schedule too, which made shooting a breeze. We knew if one had to be change/fed/burped the other was minutes behind. I hope the family enjoys these pics of their little princesses as much as I did shooting them.

The Princess(es) and the Pea(s)

There is nothing better in the world than to hold a brand spankin’ new baby! The smell, the squeaks and the way they sleep with their little mouths open just melts my heart. I had the extreme pleasure of photographing a friend’s newborn in the hospital. It’s their second girl and she was just hours old when I stopped by to take a couple shots of her. We joked about her having more hair at birth than her sister. Whom by the way didn’t get hair until she was one. Newest addition baby “E” even has a hint of red to her fuzzy hair. I look forward to taking more pictures of her soon, we have a more formal photoshoot coming up soon. Until then enjoy these quick shots!

Here’s another sneak peak from this past weekend. Another newborn, only 2 weeks old. Baby “A” was awesome, slept pretty much the whole time and let me bend him into all kinds of newborn fun positions. Mom found a super cute knitted monkey suit for him to wear. It was a tad big but we made it work. Enjoy!

Mommy says he has puppy dreams. Barks, kicks and smiles in his sleep. I was lucky enough to catch it.

Happy (early) Holidays!

I had another baby shoot this morning and what a cutie! Little Miss “O” was a perfect angel. Especially since she missed her naptime for me. She was all smiles and cooing away. We played dress-up with a half dozen outfits (all were super cute, hard to pick a favorite) and hairbows galore! Here’s a little sneak peak of Miss “O” and her family. BTW “O” stands for OhMyGoshSoCute!

This melts my heart

IBB aka Landon had his second photo shoot today. He was a trooper, it took us over 3 hours of wrapping, unwrapping, hanging, swinging, rolling and other awkward positions to get what we liked. He only complained a little and peed on the floor once. It was a lot of fun! I hope Mama and Dada enjoy!

Is what his mommy says after every sentence. After little “E”‘s session I felt the same way! He was super sweet and completely content to lay on the fuzzy rug and listen to the birds & the neighbor work on his car. He was an excellent model for only being 7 days old!!! I hope you enjoy the pictures!
